Every time it rains, dirt, leaves, insects and other pollutants that have accumulated on the roof are washed into the rainwater tank.
A thick layer of sediment is created, polluting the water and turning it a brown, tainted colour. This layer of sludge can become home to a host of harmful organisms.
People are not aware of the quality of water they are drinking. The fact is that 80% of water tanks across the country are in dire need of cleaning. You may wonder why your water smells or you keep having to replace water filters to the home. There is usually from experince 50mm of sediment sitting at the bottom of the tank. The worst we have seen is 200mm. This is home to many nasty organisms which can be harmfull to you and your family.
At The Water Shed we have a purpose built vacuum truck that is used to clean out these water tanks. The process usually takes 2-3 hours depending on the size of the tank and the amount of sediment that is sitting on the bottom. The walls of the tank are cleaned and any leaks or broken downpipes we can fix at the same time.
